The 2025 Met Gala, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, embraced the theme "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," celebrating the rich history and influence of Black dandyism and menswear. Amidst this celebration, Indian celebrities made significant sartorial statements, blending traditional aesthetics with contemporary luxury fashion.


Shah Rukh Khan's Regal Debut in Sabyasachi

Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan made a historic debut at the Met Gala, donning a custom ensemble by Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. His attire featured a tailored, floor-length coat crafted from fine Tasmanian wool, accented with Japanese horn buttons. Complemented by a black silk shirt, tailored trousers, and a satin kamarbandh, the look paid homage to both Black and Indian dandyism. Accessories included layered talismanic chains, a crystal-studded 'K' pendant, a diamond star brooch, multiple rings, and an 18k gold cane adorned with precious stones, encapsulating a blend of traditional elegance and modern glamour.

Priyanka Chopra's Retro Glamour in Balmain and Bulgari

Priyanka Chopra, alongside husband Nick Jonas, embraced retro elegance in a white Balmain gown adorned with black polka dots and a wide-brimmed hat. Her look was elevated by Bulgari jewels, notably a 241-carat Magnus Emerald pendant. Nick complemented her ensemble in a high-neck cream blouse and tailored trousers by Bianca Saunders, accessorized with Tiffany & Co. brooches.

Mindy Kaling's Sophisticated Statement in Gaurav Gupta

Actress and producer Mindy Kaling made a striking appearance in a tailored black gown with a white collar and red velvet detailing, designed by Indian couturier Gaurav Gupta. The ensemble, adorned with geometric gold buttons and a slim train, was complemented by a sleek ponytail, gold clips, smokey eye makeup, nude lips, and gold drop earrings, showcasing a blend of Indian craftsmanship and contemporary design.

Fashion icon Natasha Poonawalla turned heads in a custom creation from Maison Margiela's Artisanal Collection, designed by John Galliano. The white strapless bodycon dress, adorned with sheer black torn chiffon details, was complemented by her own wedding jewels, symbolizing the fusion of fragility and strength.

Isha Ambani's Floral Fantasy by Rahul Mishra

Isha Ambani captivated attendees in a bespoke hand-embroidered couture sari gown by Rahul Mishra, which took over 10,000 hours to create. The gown depicted nature's lifecycle through intricate embroidery techniques like Fareesha, Zardozi, Nakshi, and Dabka. Accessories included a clutch featuring Indian Miniature Painting and traditional lotus hand bracelets and parrot earrings by Viren Bhagat, celebrating India's rich artistic heritage.

Alia Bhatt's Ethereal Elegance in Sabyasachi

Actress Alia Bhatt embraced timeless elegance in a mint-green sari by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, crafted over 1,965 hours by 163 artisans. The ensemble featured a 23-foot-long train, hand-embroidered with silk floss, beads, sequins, semi-precious stones, and fringed with glass beads. The blouse was studded with emeralds, Basra pearls, tourmalines, and multi-colored sapphires, epitomizing the fusion of traditional craftsmanship and modern sophistication.
